After much experimenting, I
found that this snack has just the right portion for a late night snack for
hubby. Besides, it has all the ingredients he loves – eggs, milk and bread.
Best of all, it does not take
a lot of effort to make, makes use of what’s already available in the fridge,
is easy to warm up and makes cleaning up
an easy affair. For all its humble ingredients, it can be presented with much
fan-fare simply by a dusting over with icing sugar or served with a dollop of
ice-cream.
Come to think about it, my
cheat sheet is growing longer by the week and that is what crafty housewives
like me is getting good at!
Ingredients :
2 slices of Bread ( wholemeal
or white )
soft butter
1 egg
½ cup milk
1 Tbsp sugar
¼ tsp cinnamon powder
½ cup cranberry
Chopped walnuts ( optional )
Method :
Grease the dish with butter.
Butter both sides of the
bread. Cut into quarters.
Arrange in a medium sized
dish.
Beat egg, milk, sugar,
cinnamon until frothy. Pour over the bread.
Sprinkle cranberry over the
bread.
Let the dish sit for a while
so that the bread soaks up the egg mixture.
Preheat the oven to 160C.
Bake for 30-40minutes in the
preheated oven until the top is lightly brown.
Serve with a dusting of icing
sugar if so desired.
hahaa.... come on, this is call wise cooking.
